Executive Summary
Objective
The mission of AGB is threefold: To collect digital action video footage for use in various projects. To search local geography for terrain that would fill in or be rideable given proper weather and storm conditions. To educate members about the preparation needed to ensure a successful mission, every time.
Membership
Standards to join the AGB are simple. There are two types of members, Support and Active.
Active members must own personal snowboard gear. Support members do not need gear only must attend meetings and events. Active members must attend meetings, events and participate in the seeking of local terrain. Membership in this organization shall be open to all students regardless of race, color, ethnic background, national origin, gender orientation, veteran status, sexual orientation, disability, sex, political or religious opinion or affiliation, creed, age or marital status who are good folks and are students or alumni of Frostburg State University.
Officers
AGB administration adheres to a chain of command.
Command Structure
The AGB chain of command has five defined posts. Elections and Impeachments will be conducted as 51% of a vote at only official meetings as terms will last one year. The duties of absent cadre will be assumed by the General. The Chancellor will be the outside contact or ambassador in coordinating proposals or permissions. Chancellor, General and Lieutenant General bear the authority to attend meetings with Lane Center administration. Both the Colonel and the Captain must have directive from one of the head cadre to replace them in official meetings; however any member may accompany head cadre to meetings at the cadre’s discretion. This directive of representation must be on official AGB letterhead or UBG letterhead.
The five posts are in ranking order: Chancellor, General, Lieutenant General, Colonel and Captain.
Positional Duties
Each officer will have assigned duties comparable to traditional President/Vice President duty descriptions.
Chancellor - Run/Plan Meetings, Coordinate with outside parties. Will act as PR agent for SGA and LUC functions. Will use National Ski Patrol professional standards in planning and safety management. Must have high levels of mountain experience.
General - To Collect and compile data of locations and monitor weather. Presentation of extended forecast at each meeting. Personally approves all members before first acsent/descent. Will deliver material deemed fit from the Chancellor at meetings.
Lieutenant General - Will assist in the operation of meetings and deliver material when needed. Will be responsible for funding and book-keeping. Treasury skills needed. Will assist the General in the distribution of information from the Chancellor. Will act as a/v equipment supply record. Will act as agent for SGA and LUC functions.
Colonel - Will assist in meetings when necessary. Provide assistance to team leaders in organizing snow teams and scouting missions. Maintain a well documented script of each meeting and function. Logging of GPS coordinates and map plots. Distribution of materials and information to team leaders. May act as agent to SGA/LUC functions with authorization from Chancellor, General or the Lt. General.
Captain - Will assist the Colonel as needed and will organize the structure of the snow teams,
(see figure 1.)using the double buddy system. Will coordinate information around campus and act as courier for printed materials to post around campus. May act as agent to SGA/LUC functions with authorization from Chancellor, General or the Lt. General.
Snow Teams and Support
The AGB will employ the double buddy system when on the mountain. Each double buddy team will have a Team Leader, who will be responsible for communicating with the Captain and Colonel. The TL will conduct the appropriate time awareness to start safety checks hourly while on mountain. Teams will operate together when filming and free-riding. Team intervals should always remain 100 yards when riding unless otherwise planned. Support staff will help with operations or meetings or PR. They may consist of family or friends. They may NOT participate in on snow activity unless they are capable and show experience. These individuals do so at their own risk and are not official members of the AGB.
Meetings
Meetings will be held once a month and may vary depending on member schedule and weather patterns. Early fall meetings are by far the most important due to the approaching winter and the preparations that need be made. The Chancellor will host the meetings and each shall consist of theory on safety and discussion of current material ranging from weather to experience. As each meeting shall be open to member inquiry, a hat or collection jug will be offered to collect topics of discussion. During winter, meetings will be held on mountain or location. During operation periods, safety meetings will be held every hour to ensure maximum safety. The buddy system will support the safety check, as one rider will check the other and vice versa. During the initial snow season, the founder shall be the Chancellor and shall appoint cadre from membership. In following seasons, defined by July 1 of each year, elections will be held in formal meetings amongst members of the AGB. The rules for election will resemble the form of the United States Of America in a ballot cast form. Meetings determining candidacy will incur Robert’s Rule and proceed in parliamentary fashion.
Advisor and Amendments
The advisor needs to be one who has high energy and can handle the potential issues of mountain operations. A geography specialist or a mountaineering instructor is best suited. The need for assessment of terrain is essential. The advisor is a resource of perspective and experience. At the time of the AGB creation, the advisor was an instructor in the geography department. If for some reason, an advisor needs to be replaced, an election style vote must be conducted in a meeting amongst members of the AGB.
Changes may be made to this document by conducting an election style vote on the topic to be added or removed. A Constitutional Roast will be conducted every two years. All members have the right to vote on the change of or addition to any AGB Constitution Chapters. We the Riders.
